We can Change the World
The Wilshire Foundation believes in the power of philanthropy, nonprofits and government to drive social change. But philanthropy and government spending may not be enough if we want to solve some of the toughest problems around the world.
Our investment approach helps prove new business models, attracts new investment capital, and helps catalyze new markets that serve the poor. Financial returns generated from our investments are recycled back into the fold.
We also believe that our resources must be more efficient and more impactful. We need to be more intentional about catalyzing new and creative solutions, building unlikely alliances, and creating new financial instruments for social impact.
Conscious Capital:
The definition and practice of philanthropy needs a major reboot if we are collectively going to tackle the world’s greatest social challenges. Philanthropy—mobilizing private capital for the public good—is something any individual, organization or private enterprise can and should do. The convergence of a new generation of thinkers and activists, supported by cutting-edge technology, creates enormous opportunities to put the power of capital—time, talent and money—toward accelerating social impact.
Collaborating across sectors enhances expertise and promotes solutions on which we can build. We explore a wide range of issues, industries and ideas to address chronic challenges. We share our expertise and experience openly – successes and failures alike – to accelerate collective learning and progress.
